CELEBRATING 27 YEARS ONLINE (1999-2026)

About Pathoindia

VISION: To build an open and egalitarian "Online Pathology Community" where the world is truly flat__a shared space without hierarchy, titles, or barriers.

In the mid-1990s—when the internet still hummed through dial-up connections and “going online” was an event rather than a habit—Pathoindia began quietly as a modest e-group. There was no grand launch, no elaborate platform. Just a simple idea: what if pathologists across India could gather in one shared digital space?

Through plain email exchanges and early e-groups, conversations began. A case discussed here. A doubt clarified there. A thoughtful response from someone hundreds of miles away. Slowly, a network formed—not of servers and screens, but of minds.

From the very beginning, the vision was both simple and quietly radical: to create an open, egalitarian community where the world is truly flat. No hierarchy. No titles. No barriers to asking a sincere question. A forum where a postgraduate trainee to a senior consultant could participate in the same thread—each voice valued, each contribution respected.

Pathoindia was never just a mailing list. It became a collaborative commons. A place where difficult cases were shared with honesty, uncertainties voiced without hesitation, career paths discussed openly, and professional relationships shaped by mutual respect and shared purpose.

As the digital world expanded, so did Pathoindia. A home emerged at pathoindia.com. New platforms appeared—Yahoo, Facebook, X, Instagram—and we adapted. But through every technological shift, one thing remained constant: Conversations.

From Yahoogroups and mailman to hub@pathoindia.com today, EMAIL has remained our steady meeting ground. Simple, Direct, Democratic, Enduring from the earliest days of the internet to the present moment.

Over the years, countless members have enriched this journey. The list is long—too long to name individually—but each contribution, whether a single thoughtful reply or years of steady participation, has shaped what Pathoindia is today. This community stands on the generosity of its members.

Today, we reimagine Pathoindia as a modern Doctors’ Lounge—
a space where PGs to senior consultants meet as peers;
where questions are asked freely and answered generously;
where experience is shared without reservation;
and where learning flows across disciplines, regions, and generations.

Pathoindia belongs to every pathologist—in India and across the world. Whether you are just beginning your journey or have walked it for decades, this space is yours.

Write in. Share a case. Ask a question. Offer an insight.
Post a message at hub@pathoindia.com.

Because the story of Pathoindia is not something that was written in the 1990s.
It is something we continue to write—together.
